What to ask at your first reading
You do not have to tell the reader your whole story. One honest question is enough to start.
Questions that read well
- WorkWhat would help me most at work over the next few months?
- LoveWhat am I not seeing about this relationship?
- A decisionWhat should I weigh before I decide on this?
- A rough patchWhat can I lean on while this is hard?
- Just curiousWhat do I most need to hear right now?
Questions that read badly
Very narrow yes-or-no questions, and questions about what someone else is secretly thinking, tend to give muddy answers. Try turning them around: instead of "Does he like me?", ask "How can I tell where I stand?"
Is it okay to say nothing?
Yes. Some people like to stay quiet and see what the cards bring up. Tell the reader that is what you want.
